Quick answer
Otter.ai does not transcribe Korean; its help center lists six languages. Fireflies, Notta, Fathom and tl;dv all list Korean. For meetings that switch between Korean and English, Notta has a two-language mode and Fireflies a multi-language beta. CLOVA Note is built for Korean. NoteCube transcribes Korean, English and mixed speech live on your phone.
How it works
Check the language list, not the headline
Open the app’s help center article on supported languages and look for Korean by name. “100+ languages” can still leave a feature, such as summaries, English-only.
Decide if your meetings mix languages
Many tools transcribe one language per meeting, chosen before you start. If people switch between Korean and English, you need a mixed or two-language mode.
Check where the meeting happens
Fireflies, Fathom, Notta and tl;dv can join Zoom, Google Meet or Teams calls. For a meeting room, a class or an interview, use an app that records on your phone.
Test one real recording
Record ten minutes of a typical meeting and check names, numbers and English terms inside Korean sentences. Accuracy varies with microphones, accents and overlapping speech in every app.
Does Otter.ai support Korean?
No. Otter’s help center says it transcribes only English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese (Simplified), and that German and Chinese are still in beta (help article updated October 2026). It also says Otter transcribes one language per conversation, chosen before the meeting; the stated exception is French with English.
Otter Chat can translate an existing transcript into other languages, but that does not help when the meeting itself is spoken in Korean: there is no Korean transcript to start from. Search results that rank Otter among “Korean transcription services” are out of date or are describing translation.
AI meeting note takers that support Korean for Zoom, Meet and Teams
If the meeting is a video call and you want a bot to join it, four of the eight list Korean. Fireflies lists Korean and Korean (South Korea) among 100+ languages. Notta lists Korean among 58 transcription languages, and its meeting bot can join Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Webex in bilingual mode. Fathom lists Korean among 38 transcript languages. tl;dv lists Korean among more than 30.
Transcription is not the same as summaries and action items. Fathom, for example, translates summaries automatically only for a short list of European languages, and Korean is not on it. Before you roll a tool out to a Korean team, record one meeting and read the summary, not just the transcript.
Korean and English in the same meeting
Meetings in Korean companies with overseas partners, classes with English terms, and Korean-American families often switch languages mid-sentence. Single-language tools tend to drop or garble the other language. What each company says about mixed speech:
- Notta: bilingual transcription, pick two of 23 languages (Korean and English included) for live recording, meeting bots and uploaded files
- Fireflies: Multi-Language (Auto-Detect) mode, in beta, for meetings where speakers switch languages
- tl;dv: automatic language detection that can transcribe several languages spoken in one meeting
- CLOVA Note: a “Korean + English” recognition setting; AI summaries need the recognition language set to Korean
- NoteCube: Korean, English or mixed conversations transcribed live, then summarized
- Otter.ai: one language per conversation, and Korean is not available
Korean transcription for in-person meetings, classes and interviews
When there is no call to join, the app has to record through a phone or laptop microphone. On iPhone, Voice Memos shows a free transcript on iPhone 12 or later, in 10 languages including Korean, though not in every country or region. It does not label speakers or write meeting notes. CLOVA Note records on the phone and turns the audio into text after the recording uploads, which suits a Korean lecture you will read later.
NoteCube writes the transcript on screen while people are still talking, with speakers and timestamps, in Korean, English or both. Afterwards a meeting becomes a summary, decisions and to-dos taken from what was said, and a class becomes a summary with new expressions and review cards. Its limits: it supports only Korean and English, it does not join video calls, and the free allowance is the first 60 cumulative minutes of transcription, once. Summaries of transcribed content are free on every plan.
Korean transcription accuracy: what to check
No company here publishes a Korean accuracy figure you can compare across apps, so test with your own audio. The usual weak spots in Korean transcripts:
- English product names, acronyms and numbers inside Korean sentences
- People’s names, which apps often split or respell
- Overlapping speech and the person farthest from the microphone
- Honorific endings that change the meaning of who did what

Frequently asked questions
Does Otter.ai transcribe Korean?
No. Otter’s help center lists English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese (Simplified) only. Otter Chat can translate a transcript into other languages, but it cannot transcribe Korean speech.
Which AI note taker is best for Korean meetings on Zoom?
Fireflies, Notta, Fathom and tl;dv all list Korean and can join Zoom calls. If the meeting mixes Korean and English, Notta’s bilingual mode and Fireflies’ multi-language beta are built for that. Test one real meeting before choosing.
Can I transcribe a meeting that mixes Korean and English?
Yes, with some apps. Notta lets you pick two languages such as Korean and English, Fireflies has a multi-language beta, CLOVA Note has a Korean + English setting, and NoteCube transcribes mixed Korean–English speech live. Otter cannot.
Is there a free Korean transcription app?
Voice Memos on iPhone 12 or later is free and shows a Korean transcript where available. CLOVA Note has a monthly free allowance for personal use. NoteCube’s first 60 cumulative minutes of transcription are free, and summaries are free on every plan.
Do I need permission to record a meeting in Korea?
Ask before you record. Korean law treats recording a conversation you are not part of differently from recording one you join, and other countries have their own rules. This page is general information, not legal advice.
